Chartering a Sailing Yacht in Mallorca
Much like in the Cinderella story, it took some time for Mallorca to become the tourist hot spot it is today. Even if today it's one of the hotspots of the Mediterranean, a haven for yacht charter holidays and sun-worshippers from around the world, it wasn't always so.
Part of the Balearic archipelago which also has the islands of Minorca and Ibiza among its components, yacht charter Mallorca is by far the largest and the most popular, because of its fine weather, the beaches and recently, the infrastructure.
A small rural paradise up until the late 60s, the island is today a famous hot spot for sailing yacht holidays in Mallorca, with plenty of marinas lining its shores. Speaking of shores, the general geography of the island affords generally steep cliff coasts, with only 2 larger bays: the Badia de Pollenca and Badia d'Alcudia, places where you'll find most of the sailing crowds.
The largest city on the island is Palma, which is also the main port and has the biggest marinas and represents the perfect starting point to pick up yachts in Mallorca for a boating holiday. Other good port towns on the island are Ca'n Pastilla, Cala d'Or, Porto Colom, Puerto de Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa and Puerto Portals, but you're invited to explore the coast to find other places suited for an overnight stay. These can even be small charming fishing villages which still retain much of the Mallorquin flavor of the old Spanish province.
And while you're out exploring, try to find any of the island's picturesque coves which are hidden between steep cliffs but which are perfect anchoring spots where you can relax and take in that Mediterranean Sun.
Keeping in mind that yacht charter Mallorca has been described as the best places for a beginner skipper to get the hand of the trade, we invite you for a Mallorca sailing holiday to enjoy the weather, the scenery, the people and their customs.
